Can Gov.Arnold Schwarzenegger racist comments be forgiven?

Arnold Schwarzenegger apologized Friday for saying during a closed-door meeting that Cubans and Puerto Ricans are naturally feisty and temperamental because of their combination of "black blood" and "Latino blood."

  1. He claims the tape-recorded comments "made me cringe" when he read them in Friday's Los Angeles Times.
  2. those comments are not racist at all, to europeans hot as in this instance simply means passionate
  3. Whenever celebrities and politicians say stupid things like this their press agents or publicity people make them apologize. It's not sincere, they're just trying to save face and their public image. Otherwise they would never have said these things in the first place. Arnold's an idiot. I'm glad I don't live in California.
  4. its not like youre politically correct 24/7! hell the latinos are racist all the time saying whites are lazy…
  5. "Anyone out there that feels offended by those comments, I just want to say I'm sorry, I apologize," Schwarzenegger said. He added that if he heard his children make similar comments, "I would be upset."
  6. Of course he is trying to save himself. It's not politically correct to speak your mind these days, which is ironic, considering the fact that it's OKAY to make racial comments towards white people.

But answer me this.. You've probably said something in the heat of the moment that you regret later right? I assume you'd apologize in that situation, correct? So what makes you think he's not truly sorry for it?

  7. I'll tell it like this…and forgive me for bringing it up, but God is the one who will be doing the forgiving. we need not worry about what he said. he's a product of his environment like most of us.
far be it from anyone to think they can judge him or anyone for their opinions and views. it's another thing the devil uses against us to make the hate in this world thrive. if he delivered an apology, it is much better than if he had not said anything in his defense. thanks for the question because people need to stop.
  8. What do you guys think? Is he truly apologetic for his awful, crude comments? Do you think he's being sincere or trying to save himself?
  9. wow.. im never watching terminator again

I dont think he meant to apologize, he shouldnt say those things there are many celebs in california that are black and latino

  10. I don't think that it was that big of a deal. People make jokes like that about their own ethnicity, not to mention the gads of people that make comments along the same lines about their SO, friends, kids, etc. I think people that get up in arm over this really need to grow up and get thicker skin…
  11. I think he's just trying to save himself. I have nothing against him really, but I haven't been impressed by him in any way.
  12. Unfortunately when some politicans reach their goal. To become the upptiy ups,in whatever governing station they are in they really do forget how they got there and mostly why they are there! I don't think his apology is real .the old saying is If you think it, you believe it ,thats why it blurted out, but to each his own I'm a newyorican and comfortable in my skin. And yes we do have a temper but only on occasions otherwise we are the most quiet people who mind our business, live and let live.
  13. Well…Maybe..it all depends on how you feel towards people making racist coments at all. So I say Maybe it can be forgiven but it all Depends on the person your asking if Arnold's racist comment can be 4given at all.
  14. He did better than Al Sharpton,Farrakhan et al
  15. just like every other american he has the right to say what he wants
  16. Arnold rules
  17. Well, truthfully I don't think he really cares about whether he hurt the people. But I do think he cares that it can hurt HIS JOB!!! This would be the most probably explanation for why he apologized, or claims to apologize for that matter, He's got terrific movies, but hey if he's in a position like the one he's in, he has to learn to use some judgement in what he says. You can't just go around making jokes about races like Indians (I'm one), jews, blacks, whites, pinks…and whatever other names they go by these days. I was a big Arnold fan, and im still a big movie fan, but I don't think he was the best choice for governor, and this is clearly reflected by his choice of words. So coming from a fan of his movies, I don't konw what he expects from those that now don't like him.

Technically, yes you CAN (can indicates ability to do somehting in English) forgive him. But I don't know if everyone should, especialy if they feel strongly about what he said.

He's most likely just trying to save himself, you're right about that; but unfortunately many politicians do this now adays.

Anyway I hope my opinion helps!!!

  18. Disgusting, I am a registered dem and I always will be. Republicans are the party of racial hatred. I live in california and I'm voting for angelides, f*ck schwarzenegger, son of a nazi asshole.

I'm white dating a latino girl and I just showed her your post and she said : its that nazi blood that makes him so hot headed…..he prolly gets mad when people tell him that

    lol

Can Gov.Arnold Schwarzenegger racist comments be forgiven?

Arnold Schwarzenegger apologized Friday for saying during a closed-door meeting that Cubans and Puerto Ricans are naturally feisty and temperamental because of their combination of "black blood" and "Latino blood."

  1. He claims the tape-recorded comments "made me cringe" when he read them in Friday's Los Angeles Times.
  2. everyone can and should be forgiven….forgetting is another matter however…the voters won't forget..
  3. As usual Politicians have to save face when they open mouth and put foot in it. Everyone should be outraged but then we would have to look at ourselves too!
  4. he is probably sincerely trying to save his political career, but since almost no one was offended, who cares. I guess that his opponents will blow this up out of all proportion for political gains, till eveyone is sick of hearing about it.
  5. I think we should deport him! And his wife too, since she married him!
  6. no that son of a bit*h aint sorry he just sorry he got caught sayin it thats what makes me not like people like him
  7. He is truely NOTHING! He says one thing and acts another. Dont' fall for his bull one instant…he has become a full blown politician. No more, no less…or, in the vernacular, a LIAR…no different than any other Republican.
  8. I think that he is trying to safe himself for being called a racists and he does not want ethnic groups to hate him. I do appreciate the fact that he is apologizing but I strongly believe what he said he met every word.

He should not have made a comment like that to begin with, Some things is best if it is kept inside..

  9. No.
He is just trying to keep his job.
    He is an idiot.
  10. would you forgive him if he was a democrat?
  11. I just think the man is recognising the fantastic differences between the races and cultures… these days … its seems you are not 'allowed' to say anything about the race what so ever… in case they are offended …. well get this… I like fiesty latina women :-) … is that ok to say that or am I branded a racist ?

It doesn't really matter if he is 'forgiven' .. by who? … all that matters to Mr Swarzenegger is his voters and his people…

People have said a lot worse in recent days.

  12. His comments were NOT racists. He did nothing wrong. He should not have apologized for telling the truth about how those people are.
  13. your on answers? the most brutal web site in the world.
It makes muslims cringe! and that bothered you?
Grow up and get a life. poor baby, need a bottle?
  14. "Anyone out there that feels offended by those comments, I just want to say I'm sorry, I apologize," Schwarzenegger said. He added that if he heard his children make similar comments, "I would be upset."
  15. Fortunately, he can't run for President, since that office is reserved for USA born citizens.

But his leadership skills in an almost impossible place like California might be both needed and appropriate.

  16. What do you guys think? Is he truly apologetic for hiw awful, crude comments? Do you think he's being sincere or trying to save himself?
  17. why should he have to do anything?
he has free speech & an opinion
why are you calling on the racist Mayor Nagin for his comments?
Latin people are well known for their passion &firey temperments. There's been song & movies about it…
All my Latina friends fly their fireyness like a badge of honor.
    lighten up
  18. Oh but he apologized and said these comments were not to be made!

    What a fake!
