Like a lot of people who wanted to be american citizens and could afford language classes, he speaks with the accent of his instructor.. there is a genetig factor, just like I could never make that noise the mexicans make with their tongues when pronouncing the r sound. nor the ethiopians or arabics when they pronounce the r sound.
