If Arnold Schwarzenegger were able to run for president in 2008, realistically, would he win?
I always wanted to know if the terminator did run for prez, would he win? He is a more moderate Republican and would it be like Ronald Reagan back then?
- Realistically? No. The Republican and Democratic parties do not nominate moderates for the presidency because they're ultimately unpredictable–they wouldn't find it savory for a Democrat proposing a Marriage Amendment banning gay marriages, after all, and the same concept works for Republicans. It's near impossible that the Republican Party would even nominate him and even if they did, realistically, his only chances of winning are by a slight margin–nowhere near the success that Reagan had back in the 80's. Unless, of course, Arnold ran against Hillary, in which case he'd undoubtedly win (most Republicans, roughly half the Democrats, and almost every extreme-sided Independent hate her, after all).
(Fun Fact: Davy Crockett was elected into the Halls of Congress and was booted out next election. Same thing is most likely going to happen with Arnold.)
- I'd vote for him, unless nader was running aswell. then id vote for the all powerful lovable hermit ralph nader.
- I don't think he would, given the fact he is Republican. I think most people definiately wouldn't vote for a celebrity that is Republican, though I was surprised that Bush was able to get enough votes on his side.
- I don't think he is tied in close enough with the GOP to win.
Although, we already know Americans are pretty crazy. - I don't think so…
- Nobody would take him seriously. I think he would be a decent president. Besides, he can't. He's not born in the USA.
- no he is an idiot Ronald Reagan he will never be.
- If he were able to run…he would probably win.
- No . not as himself
- god I hope not, living in cali has taught me that
- Don't you have to born Amercian to be president.
- I'd say he'd have a good chance if he were able to. Everyone that answered "he can't run, he needs to be born in this country" read the question…it says if he were "able to." Jeez, get some brains.
- I think he would have a shot on name recognition alone.
- He wasn't born in the USA so he can't run for president.
- No, IF Arnold were eligible to run, he could not win. He is, unfortunately, even stupider than George W.
And that's going some.
- I dont know, im not american.
- No, moderates are not in fashion anyway. Besides, he was born in Austria and cannot run.
- He is too close to the middle. Both sides, left and right, would work against him.
- With the right running mate it is verry possible
- He cannot run. He is a nauralized citizen.
- Stupid people elected President Bush. Not once, but twice. I could see them going for Arnie……He'll be back….
- no he has to be born here
- You know what? I live in California. I didn't vote for him because 1) I'm not a republican and 2) it's so cliche! I swear he only won because he's a celebrity. So if he were able to run for president (which he cannot) I have a feeling he'd win. Only because of his celebrity status.
- Orin Hatch tried to get an amendment passed to allow a naturalized citizen who has lived in the US for more than 20 years eligiable to run for president.
hmmm….
Schwarzenegger failed Califronia….
lets hope for the sake of the country anyone who says something nice about hitler is never a president. - he could win, to bad that pesky constitution will never let us know for sure. I think that we would have far fewer willing to challenge the US if he was the prez
- whos he running against the Predator
- sadly, it would almost be a tie, then again half the people that would vote for him are stoned and/ or drunk
- He can't run because he isn't an American citizen. Go republicans! I don't know if he would win, but he would get my vote!
