In the arnold schwarzenegger movie 'the predator' …?

why does billy, the native soldier, just give up and essentially commit suicide near the end, when they are so close to 'the choppers'?

  1. lazy script writing or did I miss something?
  2. He was a native, I assume he wanted to fight the Predator in hand to hand combat (Predator's acknowledge challenges, they fight honorably when challenged)– He used his blood to lure out the Predator.

Also, he may have wanted to pose a distraction for the others to escape.

I really think it's a matter of honor.

  3. Billy at heart is more then just a man, he feels that in order to conquor his fears he must face them, which is a really polite way to say the writers just got lazy.
  4. maybe he wanted to make sure he wasn't in the sequel?
  5. Because, he prefer to face the enemy.
  6. As mentioned, Billy is of native blood. Deep in the jungle, Billy met his greatest nemesis… No, not the Predator, the lack of alcohol. You see, once off the reservation, Billy's lifeline was cut. No Beer Store, no Billy.
