Is it true that Arnold Schwarzenegger father was a Nazi soldier?
Although I love Arnold but when I see his hard face in the movie Terminator, he remind me of a typical angry face nazi German.
- Someone tell me that he was born in austria and his dad was a Nazi soldier(not by choice), since austrian army was automaticly incorporate in the German Armay after the invasion of austria.
- You're making the attempt but you are not quite getting it. There were millions of German soldiers. Some of them were Nazis, most of them were German soldiers only. So is your question whether or not Arnolds father was a German soldier or whether he was a Nazi? Yes, you are right that Austria was incorporated into greater Germany after the Anschluss in 1938. Hitler was born in Austria so I guess nobody is perfect.
- …and the Pope was too…. First in Hitler-Youth, then a Nazi soldier. But it's ok. He desserted.
- Offical answer is yes.
"According to documents obtained in 2003 from the Austrian State Archives by the Los Angeles Times, which was after the expiration of a 30-year seal of his records under Austrian privacy law, Gustav Schwarzenegger voluntarily joined the and National Socialist German Workers Party (also known by its German initials as the NSDAP or simply as the Nazi Party), in 1938, and also voluntarily applied to become a member of the Sturmabteilung (SA), the NSDAP's paramilitary wing, on May 1, 1939.[2] Austria became part of the German Reich through the Anschluss on March 12, 1938.Schwarzenegger remained in the SA until the end of the war, but records of his activities, if any, were not discovered by the State Archives.[2]"
- Regardless if he was or not, that shouldn't have any impact on how you think of Arnold. He shouldn't be held accountable for his fathers actions.
- that's it, all of the German and Austrian men were conscripted to the wehrmacht. anyway it is useful to separate those conscripted from those volunteered into the SS and other ideology dedicated units.
true or not, we are not responsible for the deeds of our fathers, regardless of nationality and political thoughts.
- His father, as a police officer after the annexation of Austria, was required to join the Algermaine (General) SS. The chief inspector of Police was the head of the SS, Heinrich Himmler. So, if wanted to keep his job, he had to join the SS. So bear in mind, technically, all German cops were members of the SS at the time the war ended. So it was not exactly like he was a Nazi lover or something.
- yeah, I saw him on Hogans Heroes once.
