I am a 160lbs female and I do lunges for 60minutes with 20lbs weights alternating legs, will I gain weight?

Will I gain weight in muscle since I'm just trying to tone up or am I just gaining weight in fat? I'm not too concern with losing weight since I like to be bottom curvy, but I do alot of cardio to keep healthy. Should I keep going and adding more weights to be more bottom curvy? What kind of regime would you recomend? I don't want to be skinny just tone what I got or build a body builders butt.

  1. well the more weight you put the more muscle you will have, you may gain weight because muscle is replacing the fat that you used to have and muscle weighs more than fat does. if you're concerned about losing weight, use less weight that you're putting on your legs, and then you will also get skinnier because the muscle is shrinking up teh fat. if you want to keep the curvyness on the bottom I would stick with the 20 lbs
  2. within the 60mins, maybe you can do different lower body exercises instead of just lunges. Squats & leg presses will also help tone your buttocks. If you want to bulid up that area, you will need to go with heavy weights, less reps. While, if you want to tone & slim down, go with light weights, more reps.
  3. Well, metabolism, genetics, and diet have a say in this too. I know guys who lift forever but don't eat right and gain nothing but frustration. Isolating an excersize should increase the mass hence the weight of that area depending on the amount of weight lifted. Everyones different but a correct diet is paramont. You could continue at a same weight and increase reps/sets but if your body (Genes/Metabo) wants to and has the sources (diet) to, it may increase mass. To be more bottom curvy you may just want to isolate the area and loose or gain depending on the look you want. No real regiment to follow, try the ones that suit you the best but this may be a matter of genetics.
  4. muscle weighs more than fat so if u are making ur muscles bigger, then u will tend to gain a lil bit of weight… but u will see that it will look trimmer
  5. you'll gain muscle…. do aerobics
