Am I taking in the right number of carbs, proteins, and fats to build muscle?
I have been using a calculator on the internet to find out my needs for carbs, proteins, and fat everyday. This is what I came up with: I will need 3100 calories, 365g of carbohydrates, 185g of protein, and 104g of fats to build muscle.
- I am a 15 year old male weighing 185 pounds and am 5'10"
- the numbers look right. your workout might be in question though if you're neglecting legs. they are the largest muscles and release the greatest amount of growth hormones. base your routine around big lifts like squats, deadlifts, bench press, bent over rows, military press, and pull-ups. give yourself at least one day of rest and be sure to get enough sleep so your body has the opportunity to grow.
- That seems ok, but the more important question is- how much weight are you lifing? You can lift all day and eat great and not gain muscle unless you work them with heavy weights. A sure bet- if you can do more than 12 reps a set, the weight isn't heavy enough. Just be careful, take it slow. NOONE gains muscle easily, quickly, and safely. But you can gain it safely. The other two lead to failure or injury.
- Are those numbers right? If not, what am I doing wrong? I weight train 3x a week for my upper-body using pullups, bench presses, barbell curls, etc…
- the protien intake looks a bit high. im guessing it was calculated as 1 gram per lb of body weight. this is the rule of thumb for bodybuilders who lift heavy every day. but for you, shoot for 150 grams.
