I am a male in my mid fifties.Would it ever be possible to build my body by regularly working-out?

What kind of natural niutretion supplement do I need to gain weight and build muscles? Do muscle growth stop after fifty?

  1. Its never too late to start working out or to build muscle. Just check with your doctor first and be sure to mention any preexisting conditions to him (because, after all you are 50 and not 20).

That said, you can start with weights and cardio and take it from there. As far as supplements, just start with a diet that is higher in protein, including fish and chicken.

  2. I'm 50 years old. Do the work and it will pay off. Good nutrition is important so make sure to take care of that first. If you are serious about muscle gain you will want to increase the high quality protein in your diet. Also be sure to talk to your doctor before starting any exercise routine.

One of the issues that you need to be aware of is the relationship between testosterone and muscle building. As we age the level of testosterone decreases and can adversely effect our ability ot gain muscle mass, especially at first. Supplements that naturally increase testosterone production, like Tribex, can be a big help. As you work out more your body will produce more testosterone and you'll definitely feel the difference.

For myself, I alternate between aerobic work and weight training. Every other day I take a 40 minute brisk walk. The alternating days I do weight training on a home gym. You might want to consider joining a gym if you have no experience with weights. Get a coach for the first year. A lot of Gyms also have swimming pools which are great for aerobic workouts.

Before I work out I do a series of stretches from marshal arts classes I used to take. Be sure to stretch every time and cool down after the workout. Drink lots of water every time as well.

  3. if you set realistic goals and take it slowly there's no reason you can't get in shape. the physical peak is age 26 so you can but it's not like you'll end up looking like Chuck Norris or any one else who has been working out for years since mucsle seems to be easier to keep than to build.
  4. Yes. Just work out every day and eat right. And you might becaome a……….
  5. there is no reason you shouldn't be able to gain muscle mass.
Just eat right and do the proper workouts.
  6. eat right, excercise will help with the weight and muscles
  7. I am 54, almost 55.
Daily, do 5-15 minutes of stretching exercises.
Daily, do 5-15 minutes of aerobics.
    Saturday, take a day off.
Sunday, do HEAVY WEIGHTLIFTING. Use a power rack for safety.
Do not do reps when lifting. Reps will grind your bone joints.
Remember; your body is slower now so it recovers slower.
That is why lift weights only once a week.
Also remember that your metabolism is slowly going slower and slower, that is why you do aerobics.
And remember that your muscles are slowly tightening up, that is why you do stretching.

Best aerobics; jumping jacks, then The Step, then stairs.

I am 54, almost 55. 6'2" tall. 283 pounds. Wear xxl shirt, 14% bodyfat, and shoulder press every Sunday - 415 pounds. '
I can outlift most people on this planet.

    Now, "get to it!" brother!!

PS Muscle growth never stops. It SLLLOOOWWS down as we get older. So we slow down the muscle size and strength loss with weights. With proper exercise, we can even increase it quite a bit, but not as much as younger people. But we can still make quite an impressive body with time and patience.

Or we can do nothing and simply get old and wither away.

    Called Sarcopenia.

  8. You're at higher risk of injury than the younger guys, so be careful. Avoid supplements, which are BS anyway except in the most extreme of circumstances, eat a good diet, follow a good workout routine, and you could be the next Jack Lalaine and you won't even need his juicer.
