Weight/body fat question about an 18y/o, 5'11.8 ft male?
Hey, I was just wondering what's a good weight so I can look slim? I currently weight (in the mornings) 152 and (at night)159. Last time I checked my body fat, it was around 16%.
- Also, how can I lose body fat rapidly? I've been jogging 3-4 miles once or twice a week, but I also get a huge appetite. Do ab workouts really help build the famous "six pack"?
- sounds normal
- if you get mad hungry, instead of eating like crazy all at once, you should have 5-6 small meals spaced out through the day. ab workouts help get a 6pack, but having a low body fat % is more important than worked out abs. for a 6pack, a body fat % of no more than 10 should be good for a person with "normal" abs who doesnt work out. also, dont worry about your weight b/c it doesnt indicate anything really. you can be ripped and weigh more, but still be significantly healthier.
- Ab workouts are great, but the secret to having a six pack is that you have to remove the fat that's covering up your muscles. All the crunches and leg lifts in the world won't result in a six pack if it's covered by fat. Now keep in mind that six pack abs are easier for some people than others, just because of how your body carries its fat reserves.
Jogging is great for burning fat, but I also recommend that you pack on more muscle. Having muscle will burn up calories, because your muscles use up a lot more energy even when you're just lying around resting.
After your workouts, you should be hungry… but the secret is to watch out for how you satisfy that huge appetite. Choose foods that are strong in protein with some carbs, while avoiding fatty foods. Protein helps rebuild your muscles after exercise, while the carbs help transport nutrients into your muscles. Too many carbs are bad, because you're trying to get your body to burn fat for energy — not use up sugars. Finally, avoid a lot of fat after exercise… it slows down the absorption of nutrients.
- Five eleven point eight? Wow you're even more obsessed with your height than I am! I only go into quarters…. I would continue running and eating well. Don't not eat for six pack abs. Despite what people tell you, not everyone can have them- it's partly genetics. Largely genetics, rather. Good luck.
- Personal experience as an athlete
- I forgot to add, I have man boobs (small, but noticeable). That is bothering me a lot.
