Both cichlids have same body structures, same built, same male & female characteristics, reach to same max size, shows same coloration patterns, same water requirements, same cost, same temperment, same diet, same place of origin I.e., Central America - Nicaragua, same breeding style, etc. Infact everything is exactly same about both of them, THEN WHY THEY HAVE TWO DIFFERENT NAMES.

1. Most of the Midas's & Red Devil's you purchase at the Local Fish Store are hybrids, a cross breed of the two, Red Devil & Midas.

   Unless you purchase your fish through an experienced breeder you are more then likely have a 99% chance you have a 'mutt'.

   Don't let this get you down though, they are still the greatest aquatic pet's in the world! But you will definitely see which gene trait your cichlid has most of.

   If you buy your cichlid at your Local Fish Store it is utterly impossible to tell weather you have a Red Devil, Midas or a mix no matter how hard you try … unfortunately Red Devil's & Midas's have been cross bread so much that the 'True' breeds are pretty much demolished & to get a 'True' breed you will pay an arm & leg for it!
