  1. I am a teen curious about the whole body building scene….any tips on how to start out? o and I am 17 years old and a senior in high school and dont worry about the whole excercise thing being bad for my height because I'm 6"3 and still growing
  2. you have to really discipline yourself., and take alook at what you want to become.. when I started body building 4 years ago I was 5'7 170 yeah I was chubby, and I wanted to do something with my self. now still uncovering the secrets of bodybuilding you have to

    1) eat right!! lots of veggies and chicken or fish something high in protien

    2) protien shakes before and after workout

    3) cardio

    4) proper lifting techniques, you must know how to lift properly and do it right, if you lift something wrong you will strain or pull something so go light and get perfect form before you start putting on pounds. having to stop your training because of a pull is such a drag and not fun!

    5) get encouraged and lift with a friend. my poster of arnold is still on my wall

    6) You are the person who wants to make a creation of your body. with your will and determination you can do anything. subscribe to Muscle and Fittness. its my magazine of choice and it shows good body building techniques. im currently on the Albert Pujoles work out and its fantastic..

All in all dont worry the pounds if your trying to loose will be gone and you will become a cut machine. hard work and your dedication will give you results.. good luck!!!

  3. ok im gonna say this as slowly as your brain can handle.

you take a dumbell and you lift it up and down up and down until you get musscles

  4. I disagree about how weight training stunts one's growth. It is simply a myth. How does he know what height he's supposed to be? Your height is primarily determined by your genetics.

Weight training promotes muscle growth, assists in fat loss, increases strength, and boosts metabolism. It also allows teens to grow up with stronger muscles and bones, along with a healthy lifestyle. It certainly benefits any other sport they engage in. Of course, this is all dependent on proper training and supervision.

As for proof, Shaquille O'Neil weight-trained in his early teens and he's well over six feet tall. I started lifting weights when I was 14 and I am 6'3".

    Good luck!

  5. Weight training can stunt your growth. I lifted weights when I was 14 and 15 and now at the age of 30 I'm only 5"8" or 5"9" (I've measured both of these heights so the discrepancy might have to do with my posture at the time of measurement). If you think you might have some growing left to do I would hold off on the serious body building until you grow those extra few inches, otherwise you will be vertically challenged for the rest of your life (believe me, there are times when it has its disadvantages).
  6. It depends what you want to do. If you want to bulk up you lift differently then if you want to really tone. I figure most people would be happy to look like you belong in the movie 300, so I work towards that. First, never underestimate how important dieting is. I know for 300 they ate a lot of chicken, fish, berries and low fat cottage cheese. Make sure you get plenty of vegetables and vitamin B too. Look in the mirror and diagnose what you want to do, gain muscle mass? lose fat? tone muscle? Because you are probably going to say all three you should focus, in my opinion, on plyometrics, with a twist. I don't hardly do bench, but I do a lot of different kinds of push ups. Dead lifts are great, so are squats if you go all the way down. If you know about plyo's, you might be saying thats not plyo's at all. Mix it up. Do push ups, jump squats, pull ups, dead lifts, ball slams (trust me they work), and A WHOLE LOT OF ABS. And thats not just sit ups, be creative, google ab exercises, theres millions. And dont be afraid to experiement, shock your body, its how you get bigger. Don't overtrain but don't be afraid of overttraining, people often think they're overtraining when in fact they would greatly benefit from working a certain muscle group again. If you have any questions email me. Dont drink protein shakes, eat chicken and fish, your body digests it better and its better for you
