Can you please review my English paper on Descartes & mind perceptions? It is due by 2nite and need conclusion
Although some may say that looks may be deceiving, we should use sensory experience for testing the truth of science because; otherwise, we would live in a state of ignorance and take everything for face value and making it much harder to better our existence. Some even doubt the existence of objects and reality. To validate, we should use our minds to the fullest and we have the capacity to study nature built in. The psychoanalyst Howard Gardner called it the logical-mathematical intelligence. The philosopher Rene Descartes said, “I think, therefore I am” because the only thing he can prove is his existence and reality is uncertain. Since our minds exist, then there must be some reason to study this aspect.
- He also said that that there is nothing certain to him except that he exists and we can’t be sure of what we distinguish distinctly and can question if it is true. He has no concern for the source of natural things outside of his thoughts because if they did exist they would come be dependant of him if it had any perfection and if not perfect they were inferior and from an imperfection of his thoughts. [Descartes 461] As a matter of fact, we can question which thing is the self according to him, but we have a concept of the first person, “I”. The Psychologist Philip Gerrans even links true uncertainty of one’s existence to depression because they “eliminate themselves from the world.”[Campbell 10]
- Your conclusion…the sentence does not make sense.
This is long and difficult to read. Sorry I could not help more.
- Tha's tooooo much writin'.
- is it hard to read because of the word choice or because of the format on the web page?
- Your first sentence is too long…..this sentence needs to be more concise…
To validate? what does this mean?
You started the sentence with although—yet the remaining part of the sentence does not match. For example… Although many people say, You can't judge a book by its cover, in many instances it can tell you many things…do you see what I mean?
sensory? explain.
Your conclusion needs to reiterate your first sentence/thesis statement.I would go deeper but there are so many things..and this is a looong essay.
if you really want help–email me this essay and I'll break it down
- All aspects of the universe such as nature should be studied so that we can advance medicine and technology. Rene Descartes tried to explain how the mind works by using the laws of physics to explain the human body. He envisioned nerves as “a system of cords and inflating tubes that mechanically produced involuntary movements”. However, he still believed that spirits physically went through the body and tried to find their central location. [Zimmer 3]
- In conclusion, one should use science to stop the deception of the senses because we can find understand things that we never could otherwise.
- How is this?
We should use sensory experience for testing the truth of science because otherwise we would live in a state of ignorance and it can show how the world really works and end our misconceptions.
Thanks. It looks long, but it is only 750 words and I need 1000. - Using science from the outside or non-temporal world, we have determined the true causes of how the mind works from biology and physics and studying animals.
- I've read it and I think you're right. Everithing is good but under my poin of view I've found the text quite caothic )maybe too much ideas from past and present, and past again…) I'd like to see some structure (sorry, my english is very bad). You need a Tittle (very important). Also the conclusion "the use of science" it comes in a aprubt way… Well, I don't know. Forget about my opinion.
Your text was good! - Even if we don’t use science to study the universe, society has a natural tendency to find an explanation of how it works. The solution? Religion in every part of the world tries to explain everything. As shown by Descartes’ contemporary medieval philosophy, if they didn’t have an explanation for it, then it must have been God. He originally used his Discourse Four to prove that since he was imperfect since he created and was an imperfect being, then something perfect, I.e. God must have created him. Almost every religion tries to explain the origins of the universe and how the world formed. Science has also tried to explain the origins of the universe with the Big Bang theory and the Hubble telescope to find how new planets form. Many scientists believe that the theory of evolution is plausible because discoveries of hominid (pre-human) remains fall within the span of inhabitable life on Earth.
- This at least provides a concrete explanation with evidence that agrees with the theory of evolution. [Dennell]
- If we don’t study the natural world, we will only believe our misconceptions and take them for fact, just as religious leaders refused to believe that the universe wasn’t geocentric from Galileo’s discoveries. Some people even wonder why bother exploring space when we can’t even grasp the oceans of our planet. It is frequently questioned if NASA ever did land on the moon since most of us can’t see space for ourselves or if what we see in even advanced telescopes is accurate. However, as we become more advanced we can at least get closer to understand how our planet works. A good example of doubting if something or anything exists, existentialism, is if a small asteroid from Mars landed in a barren land such as Antarctica. Some people would, of course, doubt it exists unless they see it for themselves. Even if someone did see it, they may still not be certain of its physical existence despite the unusual physical appearance and chemical composition. The Pre-Socratic philosophers of ancient times, the Atomists, believed that everything was made of smaller building blocks even before microscopes. No matter what the field, we can use what scientists have discovered eventually for our own benefit.
