Why Statutory rape is STUPID!?

I had sex when I was under 18, and I was emotionally, physically and mentally ready for it, want to know how I know? coz I did it and I have no regrets and I'm happy now, the same as a person who would of done it after 18. You can't speak for ALL girls or guys who have sex under 18, yes its true, some aren't ready, but some are, and regardless, the PUBERTY PROCESS STARTS FOR A REASON!! our hormones tell us to….guess what? have sex. or did you miss out on that little tidbit of information in sex ed? so no matter, what are own personal opinions are, what legal systems we built, what holier then thou attitudes we adapt, we can't compete against something bigger then ourselves, which is the NATURAL WAY, our bodies tell us to do something for a reason, and its as simple as that. I think statutory rape is a RETARDED law and alot of GOOD people go to jail who don't deserve to, to try and restrict something like sex and put in a box with rules and regulations is tampering with nature.

  1. I believe that statutory rape should only be if the one partner is 25 or older and the other partner is 15 or younger. I know that this will make people mad but in the olden days. many a girl married and started bearing children at 15-16 years old. Look through out history. The prudes in this country need to get a life.
  2. I agree.

    But this isnt a question.

  3. I started to read and got bored. but you just go on and on and on.
  4. it is the LAW!
  5. The ONLY time sex is NATURAL is AFTER you cast a vote in the ballot box!!! Until then your butt is grounded!

On the other hand, rape is rape,! castrate him and make him break big rocks into little ones 12 hours a day!

  6. I guess I agree…
  7. this law is designed for minors to be protected from adults who decide having sex with underage might be fun.encouraging kids to have sexual relations is not healthy I am far from being a prude but how would you feel if some guy down the street decided he wanted to have sex w/ your 12 year old ? would you encourage it ?would you let your "pre teen or young teen to have a sexual relationship w/ a guy in his 20's or older would you want some woman going down on your son?what happens if they get a std?girls and boys start puberty at all ages so if a 10 year old starts puberty it is ok for them to have sex? puberty is a sign our body is changing and maturing but emotionally a 10 year old is not ready for a sexual relationship so you have no problems w/ adults having sex w/ kids right? I think you need to take a couple steps back I am sure you were ready you most likely were in your upper teens right? was the person around the same age? this law is to protect our kids from things they have no business being involved in .people like you are the reason we have these laws. as a parent if I catch someone like you sniffing around my little girl be prepared to meet your maker.
  8. Just so everyone knows, the age for sexual consent in the U.S. is 16 NOT 18! That is why no one will ever be convicted of statutory rape for having sex with a 17 year old (unless that person is a teacher, camp counselor or in some other position of perceived "power" over the victim). Good for you that you did not have any regrets or trauma but you are in the minority. Regardless of the feelings of the young person, any old pervert who is sexually attracted to children is warped. For this reason there are NOT "a lot of good people" who "go to jail who don't deserve to" as you seem to think. I hope you don't try to force yourself and your "viewpoint" on young children or you will be convicted under the law you so despise.
  9. alright! time for your straight jacket!

Edit: I started my period in the 4th grade so you feel as though I should have sex?

  10. I really think that the law was enacted to prevent 60 year olds from sexually abusing 13 year olds…but I don't see a problem with a 19 year old and a 17 year old.
  11. I am looking for a question in here somewhere…..

But thanks for the 2 points!

  12. Well then, rock on.
  13. The Statutory Laws are in effect for a perfectly good reason, and no they are not stupid. The stupid people are those who break that law. Understandably, you felt you were mentally and physically capabile of making that type of decision and kudos to you for not having any regrets. However, there are many people under 18 who are not capible of making those types of choices and there are many men or women who are well over the age of 18 and they prey on younger girls who are like 14 and 15 and really should not be with an adult in a sexual way.

Pretty much.. people are in their adolecense until 18.. some even believe 21, but the truth of the matter is research already shows us that the brain isnt fully developed and there are occupational stances that are like milestones that may have not been reached, making it less likely that a person under 18 is able to make that type of choice and especially with an adult.

And that is why the law is not stupid.

  14. And your question is?
  15. and YOU ARE NOT OLD ENOUGH TO MAKE AN INFORMED DE-CIS-ION, duh!!!!!!!!! get a brain, why don't ya
  16. Ah, you have been arrested, haven't you? You are on the jail's computer right now, aren't you? We told you to leave that 12 year old alone…..you just couldn't keep your hands to yourself, could you?
  17. Rant.rant,rant,..Rave rave rave….
  18. Well, your situation was probably a hell of a lot more enjoyable than others that this law was set in place to protect.
  19. That's not stupid. It keeps a lot of sexual predators off the streets. Just be glad you didn't get arrested…
  20. I did not have sex until I met the man I love, which was in my 40's. Puberty has NOTHING to do with telling you to have sex. It says you are becoming an adult, yes, and can REPRODUCE. Not that you should. Most young people are manipulated easier by adults than other adults. So the adult is the responsible one.

My feeling is, if a teenager is old enough to have a job of their own, live on their own, and support themselves, and are doing just that, then they are old enough to make their own decisions about sex. If they are not doing this, then they should not be allowed to do so.

  21. I TOTALY agree with you 100%
  22. the entire issue has nothing to do with whether a teen is old enough, it's about power and abuse by older people against teens.. yes, a 17 yr old may be ready for sex, and the age of their partner really shouldn't matter if the sex is consentual.. the laws assume that anyone over 21 who has sex with a teen is a predator, but this is not always the case..
  23. this isn't a question. But Statutory rape laws are a good thing and it is made to protect CHILDREN!!!!!!!!!!!!! I say if some 25 year old man sleeps with my daughter when she is 15, he better rot in jail or I will be
  24. You're right about a lot of things, but the statutory rape law was enacted to protect young girls from doddering old fools that think a prepubescent girl is for the taking. Consider the sicko men that force themselves on one and two year old little girls - or the 60 year old man that rapes a 6th grader. C'mon - the laws were made for more than one reason. Use your common sense.
  25. I agree with you.

My friend and I have had long discussions about the fact that many kids under the age of 18 are very intelligent and mature and know exactly what they are doing. I frown sometimes on people who are quite old enough to know better, but still sleep with an adult and then claim it is statutory rape. I hate that a person can be convicted of 'pedophilia' with someone who is a year or two younger than them, but merely happens to be under the 18 year line. I find it ridiculous that two 17 year olds are considered unable to make sexual decisions, but another year, and suddenly, bam!, they're sexually mature people.

However, there is a reason for rules. Where would YOU put the cut-off age? It's like it is with every other law prohibiting minors from certain behaviors. Let me tell you- I'm 20, and I drink. I do so in the privacy of my own home, with my parents' approval, and I do so responsibly and maturely. The rule of 21 has never been important to me, because I know that I am ready and mature enough to handle alcohol. At the same time, I know of other people my age who I wouldn't ever want to let near a glass of booze, even after they turn 21! It's the same with driving, the same with sex . . . there are people who are ready for it at young ages, and there are people who aren't. And it's the nature of the law to make rules to protect people of the lowest common denominator, not the high-achieving exceptions to the rule. You understand?

18 is an arbitrary number, but it makes some sense- it's when children are expected to move out, to start living their own lives and making their own rules, to be responsible for their actions, and so on.

    Hope that helps.

  26. So how long were you locked up for and how old was she?
  27. That's your pedophile opinion
  28. this is definatly not a question but anyhow your whole comment is stupid & it just goes to show how truly immature you are. lets see what you think when some 24 year old perv comes along & tells your 14 year old daughter "hey baby I love you that makes this ok" yea right. Im sure youd feel differently then huh?
  29. No, the law is tampering with people who get a kick out of taking advantage of children who have no clue whats going on inside them.
