Does creatine have any negative side effects? Im 16 years old now.?

People say that the body will stop the natural production of creatine when you take the supplements. And does it really help in muscle building?

  1. Creatine helps you by allowing you to have more energy, thus you'll be able to work out longer. It also causes water retention. When you use it, you will be bigger due to water retained and not muscle gained. When you stop taking creatine, the water retained will be lost and you will be the same small guy. The strength you gained while training won't be lost so that's the positive thing.
  2. I think its a good thing to do, it works if you use it right. ive used it a few times. I had some proplems with muscle cramps but as far as natural production couldnt comment as im not a scientist. I think being 16 that your too young, just do weights and running. if you do it ; take 1 tea spoon with half a pint of water, do this 4 times a day for 2 weeks. then just have one glass a day. do it before you excercise. I think it could be sycological because when you drink it you think your stronger so push your self more in your work outs and when your not on it you think'I cant do this cos im not on creatine'..
  3. Although uncommon, serious side effects have been reported with the use of creatine. Stop taking creatine and seek emergency medical attention or notify your doctor immediately if you experience:

    * an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives); or
    * symptoms of kidney problems such as decreased or little urine.

    Other less serious side effects of creatine have not been reported. Talk to your doctor, pharmacist, or health care professional if you experience any side effects from creatine.

    the only answer I had was it is too expensive. you should open a savings account at sixteen…. end statement
