How abt a protein supplement? PLZ HELP!!!?

I'm a skinny guy. I workout in gym 5 days a week. Coach advised me to take protein supplement tat builds body muscles. Will there be any side effects? Im kinda scared abt it.

  1. Pita bread roll ups or wraps with salad fillings, are great for picnics, school lunches or to take to work.
  2. Just eat the real thing, steaks, beans.
  3. If your skinny and your work out alot,it could be your body type. Your coach is asking you to add protein to your diet. Go to GNC and ask them for help ,there is protein shakes ,red meat is a protein. Gnc is your best bet, try to find someone who knows what there talking about, if you want to put weight on and muscle mass there is rip fuel and other products.
  4. I guess he's talking about powder which you get in large tubs from the internet or health shops. It's often made from Soy Beans and comes in flavours like a milkshake. You mix it with milk/water. It's quite expensive.

It is used by many athletes because you need large amounts of protein to build large amounts of muscle. I'm naturally skinny like you, and we especially need a lot of protein because our bodies burn everything so fast! It is not the same thing as hormones or steroids, which are illegal and can have serious health effects.

Many people would argue that instead of artificial powders you should just eat bigger, and more often. Lots of meat, fish, eggs, milk, etc. Personally, I'm a vegetarian, so this isn't an option for me.

I couldn't stand any of the sweet flavours I tried, so I got 'Lamberts Pea Protein' which tastes savoury and you can mix with cup-a-soups. Use hot, not boiling water though because the heat destroys the protein.

Try a website like http://bodybuilding.about.com/ for more info. On many bodybuilding websites you can't always tell what is real, or what is an advertisement!

  5. why would you be scared of protein powders? most are made from milk. the human body can not tell the difference between protein from a shake or a piece of chicken so of course there no side effects

if you are skinny protein isn't your problem. you need to increase the intake of protein, carbohydrates and fats. simply increasing the protein intake does not mean that muscle mass will increase. if you are skinny with low body fat you would do better consuming 20% protein, 60% carbs and 20% fats.
