Working Out?
Im almost 16..Im 5'10" and 145 pounds.I started working out more in the summer this year every day for about 20 minutes a day.I have my little routine I do With my weights and including sit ups and pushups..Should I work out every day or only a couple times a week? And also should I do it at the same time every day so my body can maintain this work out?
- Any other tips to build more muscle mass on my body?
- Recovery is just as important as exercise. This means that you should continue your routine, but limit it to every other day. Get lots of rest and eat well - eat a balanced diet of fruit, vegetables, whole grains and lean protein.
What I do, personally, is cardio everyday, stretching every day, and then do leg workouts one day, ab the next, leg after, then ab, etc.
- don't work out everyday dude your muscles build during your time OFF of lifting, so just take a day or two off between workouts..also don't do the same routine over and over, try and mix it up some so your body wont get used to the routine therefore you'll keep gettin built son!!
- First of all, you are pretty skinny, I mean for someone who wants to get muscles–not trying to offend you or anything. Second of all, I think your not working out hard enough by when you say "little routine". Nothing is ever going to happen with a little routine. You have to eat big to get big, but you want to equal the amount you eat with the amount you work out so you dont get any fat on you.
Another tip, When you feel sore, this is called muscle trauma, your muscles are expierencing hyper trophy, which means youre muscles are working. Sits up and push are definitely not enough, if youre really serious about it. And by the sounds of it you are not being intense enough with it. You should do sets, each set finishing with your muscles about to die— meaing the last rep, your muscles just could not do it anymore–And thats working out, not doing some little things, which only burn calories instead of gain muscle.
Only take the day off if the muscle is expierencing muscle trauma, which is the soreness you feel. Other wise work out–Remember your muscles grow in your sleep not when you work out, so get alot of rest.
And to what other people said, dont just work out 3 or 5 days a week unless you need the rest. Even when you need the rest, the best way to the recover is through active recovery which means you work out the muscle only at a lighter weight. So if you work out and your muscles are sore, you will recover faster if you work that muscle out only at a nice weight, there have been studies. Im tired of typing so I dont want to go into it. So if you want to get big, then dont listen to what everyone else said about working out only a few days a week, and you dont need too–you can obviously tell that they are not serious and are not strong.
- 30 minutes each day or 3 day on a week.
- Do what your body tells you. If after a workout you ache -especially the next morning - then you need to rest.
Everytime you lift weights beyond what your muscles are capable of thousands of muscle fibres are ripped, when repaired they grow back stronger, that's why rest is important. Ensure you warm up as well, using Blu-tack as an example: the more you work it the warmer it gets and the more efficient it becomes that's exactly what your muscles need.
Another quick one: when coming out of each repetition do it slowly this allows the muscle to contract for longer thus improving strength. - It is okay to do the workout everyday just try not to do the same muscle to much everyday, or you will overwork yourself. So try and space out some of your workout or change some up like.. arms and back-oneday and legs and stomach-the otherday rep.
Something like that. - I would do a couple days a week. any more and you might put to much stress on your body. if you want muscle mass dont do cardio. as far as timing goes, its no big deal. in the morning is preferred. check out bodybuilding.com they are the best at any info you need
